WebIn the Korowai culture there a very clearly defined gender roles. The men are the heads of the clan and house hold. They also handle inter-clan and inter-tribe relationships. Men handle the hunting and the more physically demanding work. Korowai boys are raised with the women until they are old enough to start working with the men. WebInspiration comes from Korowai (Maori Cloaks), Kakahu (Full Feather Maori Cloaks and garments) and Taniko (patterned borders). Traditionally all raranga and weaving are from handmade with harakeke (flax) hand worked into Muka (fine threads). Traditional Korowai and Kakahu can take up to one year to weave.
